Óscar Fernández León and Eduardo Olarte Soto, founding partners of the firm, have known each other since the age of five—a deep bond that has always positively influenced the creation of a solid and long-standing firm.
Óscar Fernández León has been a practicing lawyer since 1986 and is Managing Partner of León Olarte Abogados, the law firm he founded in 1997 together with Eduardo Olarte, after more than a decade of independent legal practice. During this initial stage, Óscar led his own firm as a generalist lawyer, working on civil, criminal, administrative, and labor matters, which gave him a broad, cross-disciplinary foundation in his legal practice.
Following the merger with Eduardo Olarte Soto’s law firm, he assumed the role of Managing Partner at León Olarte Abogados and specialized in real estate, urban planning, and construction law. For nearly three decades, he has advised developers, construction companies, architects, technical architects, homeowners’ associations, and private clients on real estate matters such as purchase agreements, urban leases, real estate developments, land management, compensation boards, and litigation involving construction defects or contractual breaches. During this time, he has published numerous specialized articles in leading real estate sector publications. His deep knowledge of Civil, Administrative, and Urban Planning Law has positioned him as one of the most recognized lawyers in his field.
Óscar Fernández León combines his role as managing partner with an extensive academic and training career as a professor in the Master of Access to the Legal Profession at various universities and professional associations. He has also served as Director of the Expert Degree in Litigation at the Universidad Internacional de La Rioja (UNIR). Óscar is a frequent speaker and trainer across Spain, especially in legal skills, litigation, and law firm management.
In publishing, he has authored 17 legal books with Aranzadi and through self-publishing, covering topics such as litigation practice, examination of witnesses, legal fees, legal marketing, and procedural management. He is also a regular contributor to publications such as Aranzadi, Legaltoday, Expansión, Economist & Iuris, Sepín, and Confilegal
Since 2014, he has run the blog oscarleon.es, a leading platform on practical lawyering, and maintains a strong digital presence with over 50,000 followers on X (@oscarleon_abog), where he shares legal content, training materials, and professional insights.
On the institutional level, he currently serves as Dean of the Bar Association of Seville, Council Member of the Spanish General Council of the Legal Profession (CGAE), Council Member of the Andalusian Council of Bar Associations (CADECA), and Chair of the Training Committee of both the CGAE and CADECA. He is also President of the Arbitration and Mediation Court of Seville.
