A long friendship

A long friendship

Oscar Fernandez Leon and Eduardo Olarte Soto, founding partners of the firm, have known each other since they were 5 years old, deep ties that have always had a positive impact on the creation of a solid and long-lived firm.

Before founding the firm in 1986, both partners took different paths that would prepare them to build León Olarte.

Óscar Fernández León (Seville, 1963) graduated in Law from the University of Seville in 1986, obtaining most of his qualifications with honours.

In the same year that he finished his studies at the age of 24, he founded his first solo practice as sole partner, taking on cases in all areas of law and progressively specializing in civil and administrative law.

Oscar has positioned himself as a Spanish national reference in professional skills for lawyers, publishing up to 14 books on the subject. He is very active on social media with more than 45,000 followers on Twitter.

Oscar is also a lecturer at several universities. In 2022 he was elected Dean of the Seville law society, combining this role with the management of the firm and the handling of legal matters.

Eduardo Olarte, (Seville, 1962) finished his law studies at the University of Barcelona in 1987. In 1989 he completed a Master's Degree in International Private and European Union Law at EADA Business School. In 1989 he joined the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce and in 1993 he completed a Master's Degree in International Banking, Commercial, Tax and Intellectual Property Law at the London Metropolitan University Business School.

During 1993 and 1994 he worked for a law firm in London handling a wide range of cases related to Maritime and Commercial Law. He then moved to Madrid and worked for another firm where he developed his practice in Intellectual and Industrial Property Law. In the course of his professional career, Eduardo has become a reference in Mining Law.

Eduardo Olarte has been a collaborating lecturer at the Universidad Pablo de Olavide teaching Private International Law.

After experiencing professional careers in disparate areas of Law, Óscar and Eduardo detected that the combination of their professional profiles could be a great opportunity, for which they decided to take the step of founding León Olarte Abogados in 1997, establishing headquarters in the neighborhood of Los Remedios (Seville) positioning itself as a firm focused on advising both national and international companies.

Since its inception, the firm has grown exponentially, highlighting the progressive involvement of legal advice to companies in the mining sector, both national and of Anglo-Saxon and Latin American origin.
